For as long as I can remember, I’ve been interested in diet and exercise. In high school I experimented with a fruitarian lifestyle, I've been vegetarian, vegan and followed the standard recommended diet on and off at different times in my life. After high school I studied pharmacy at the University of Pretoria and soon found myself managing a retail pharmacy.
I studied pharmacy with the intention of making people better, but after working in the pharmacy for a while I soon realised that my patients weren't getting any better. Instead of reversing their diseases and stopping their medications they were adding more and more drugs to their daily regime.I then decided to study natural health and nutrition. An exciting new journey into the field of nutrition and healing had begun.
The more I learned and researched about food and lifestyle, the more proof I discovered that food is better medicine than drugs.I wanted to help make people better, and each that I went to work as a pharmacist, I felt more and more determined that I had to make a change. I wanted to see people stop taking drugs and make remarkable recoveries.So I started blogging and writing books whilst still researching and learning more about nutrition.
Making my escape to self-employment hasn't been fast or easy in any way, but it is worth it. Since then I’ve designed and developed websites, presented talks, written books, published the plant-based diet guide for beginners and started some nutritional counselling on the side to friends and family members willing to listen.
Through it all, diet and nutrition has played a major role. So what can the food you eat do for you??I don't have any magic beans or miracle pills for your to pop, but I do have over 20 years of research and knowledge, personal experience and passion for sharing what I've learned.
I believe optimal nutrition can be a game-changer for EVERYONE and help you improve your health. Which is why I've created blog posts, social media feeds, books etc. to help you improve your diet and lifestyle. My intention is to create a community to help you stay motivated and inspired to make the changes.
